Whitney Copeland

I met Jozé as my very first CrossFit coach in my very first CrossFit class and she was immediately welcoming to have me. I have been athletic and in the gym my whole life, but I have never had any formal training in weight lifting. I could see my deficit within the first few motions of doing a deadlift. I knew I needed some guidance and one-on-one coaching, my main concern was to avoid injury as I had just returned to working out from having my first baby. Jozé was delighted to take me on for personal training sessions. I felt so relieved even after our first session. Jozé broke down each weight lifting movement into smaller movements. As I practiced she then put the movements all together for one smooth, safe transition. She was encouraging and motivating, always demonstrating for me to see the motions, as I am a visual learner. Joze’s knowledge and experience gives her the ability to share with her clients from her personal growth as a coach and an athlete. She gave me lots of tips of what NOT to do in certain common situations, which I wouldn’t have paid attention to otherwise. Avoiding injuring, while gaining confidence in my movements was my goal in taking personal training sessions with Jozé and we fully accomplished that together. I highly recommend working with Joze if you are looking to get back into fitness, CrossFit or even just weight lifting in general.

After being inactive for over a year with respiratory issues and physical limitations due to injuries form combat sports, I needed to be reintroduced to the weight room again.  Coach Jozé was amazing at showing me and providing me with the knowledge for performing the correct technique to not only prevent further injuries, but to establish and build a correct foundation to help me become mobile and functional again. After having my one on one introductions sessions , Jozé has gone above and beyond in her role as a coach and as a fellow lifter by observing and correcting minor details that  I may not have notice. Her observations and care for others well being in the iron paradise has played a tremendous role in the safety and prevention of injury for others. Although there are many friendly and helpful coaches in the gym, I along many others, always look forward to one of Jozé classes as we know we are in good, warm, and caring hands.

Jozé is one of my favourite fitness coaches. She’s always energetic and motivating. She’s driven to help her clients succeed and always pushes me when she knows I can give more. She’s always researching about fitness and nutrition to improve her knowledge. She creates fun and engaging workouts. And she practices what she preaches, she does the exercises and work!

COVID took a toll on all of us including our physical activity, so from going to the gym 3-4 times a week it diminished slowly to online and then skipping here and there. Life made a lot of transitions not for the greater good and then I was introduced to Jozé and her "1812". I truly found my home away from home. Someone so accepting, devoted, organized, knowledgeable, caring and completely committed to fitness! Jozé sees things in me that I couldn't see in myself , she pushes us to our limits and gives us the confidence to become the best we can be. I can say that as a coach and now a friend she has made a huge difference in my life!! Her classes are my safe place, we laugh, vent, but most of all work hard, no competition just gals being gals devoted to good health!! Thank You Jozé!!
